Is that thing Loaded?

Friday Night 2 of my friends and I decided to go have a girls night out (GNO for Hannah Montana fans), and go to my sister's house which isn't far from Liberty. My brother-in-law was out of town so it was the perfect opportunity.

My wonderful, amazing, and loving sister willingly made us dinner. She took requests and since all 3 of us are from the south we screamed something FRIED! So we had fried chicken, which is the south's favorite dish. Anyway, we also begged her to make us a peanut butter pie, and since she loves us she agreed even though she is on a diet and couldn't eat it. Dinner was awesome, my sister is a great cook.

Well after dinner, we decided that we wanted to watch a movie, and we drove to walmart and got one of the $1 deals because we are college students and have no money. For some unknown reason we decided on the scary movie Prom Night. I had seen the movie so I didn't complain because it wouldn't scare me.

The movie freaked everyone out and this is what ended up happening.

This is Sarah and Kalie very scared that a high school Biology teacher is going to come attack us.
We also had to escort each other to the bathroom and anywhere else we went.

Okay, so the whole thing was staged, but I thought it was hilarious. The movie really was scary and my sister did carry her hand gun around all night. The shotgun we later found out was not loaded and I am glad because we took about 60 pictures with it.

So this weekend was a blast. We had a girls night on Friday and Saturday was Flames football. The Flames are now 2-0 and are kicking butt!

Go Flames!!!!!!

Okay, I know it has been awhile, but college is very stressful.. Well its not that it is stressful, it just takes a lot of my time.

Little update recently we have had spirtual emphasis week. Each dorm was assigned an hour last Friday night and luckily my dorm had 6 am. I was at home and was going to set an alarm to get uo, but Libbey and Caroline were aslepp with me so I could not set an alarm. So anyway, I asked God to wake me up around 6 to I could pray. Well at 5 am Caroline woke up wanting some juice; although, at the time I was like geez it is so early, I realized that it was just in time to pray. So I did and so did about 4,000 others throughout that night.

So spiritual emphasis week started Monday morning during Convocation with speaker Tony Nolan. It continued Monday night at 7:30, when almost 150 people gave their lives over to Christ! That isn't it though S.E.W. as it was called, had 3 more sessions coming. Tuesday I was unable to go, but Wednesday morning the Holy Spirit just sat down at Liberty University. That morning again over 150 were saved! It was so awesome to see and be a part of that. Convocation went over by 20 mintues and at most Universities professor would be freaking out, but not at LU they were there worshipping with us!

Wednesday night we had another great service and many people made decisions to surrender 100% to God. We didn't want to leave. I am sure that if the band would have continued playing all night long that place would have been full of students. The Vines Center was full that last night. I don't know how many people it will hold, but the entire student body fits.

Needless to say a revival has set out on this campus and God is doing wonderous things. It is awesome to think that this isn't a church service this is my SCHOOL! God is awesome and I am so glad that He used so many people to get this place going. I have no question that this is just where I need to be.

Our First Dinner

Previously, I told the story of my wonderful suitemates and myself trying to make hot chocolate. Well last Thursday we decided to make dinner. I know what you may be thinking, did you burn the place down?!? No, we didn't and here is the play by play. Photos provided by Sarah one of my suitemates and my friend.

Here is our lovely spread. We fixed salad, maccaroni and cheese, potatoes, and chicken. My job was the sweet tea.

Here we are sitting down after a long hard week of classes to enjoy our first meal together.
At this point we were all sooooo tired of reading syllabi and playing getting to know your classmates games. You know say your name and where you are from, okay and what is your major, what year are you? Wow! So tired of those games, even if I did make new friends.

We have decided to make this a weekly thing because by Thursday we are all pooped! If anyone has any good recipes please let me know. Maybe if we have a recipe we won't endager ourselves and the rest of our building. Who knows, we have a WHOLE year to find out.

Wisdom....or maybe not!

As any reader should probably know I am currently attended Liberty University as a freshman. I love every single aspect of life here at LU, and although I may miss my family and friends back home I could not ask for a better place to be. I have now been to all my classes and love most of them, mainly because they do not seem real hard. Freshman classes are always pretty easy thank God! I have made many friends and already laughed, cried, and laughed until we cried with most of them. I just thought I would share a little issue that a few of us had the other day, it is quite funny.

In my suite there are 6 girls. (No boys allowed) Four of us girls were in the kitchen discussing heavy events in our world. Okay so really we were talking about how to make hot chocolate. My dear roommate then stated
"I bet this coffee maker would work the same way!"
Since we have 2 coffee makers and none of drink coffee we decided sure why not.

So we proceded to poor milk into the back of the coffee maker and since we had no idea how much we just guessed. We decided to put the chocolate mix in where the coffee grains go and added a filter for good measure. Again we had no idea how much to use so we just guessed. By the way 3 out of the 4 of us are JUNIORS in college!

As soon as we put them in we all just bent over and glared at the coffee maker. If someone would have walked in they would have thought something huge was on television or something! So we wait what seemed like forever which was more like 30 seconds. Then, Splash! Here is comes. Well it needed more chocolate so we added it as the coffee maker was running. This clogged the whole thing and we only got about a tablespoon worth of drink.

After all the excitment as to how it would taste, the smell frightened us all and we would not taste it. So what did we do? We found our wonderful RA named Amber and had her taste it. She did so willingly and said it wasn't bad, but needed more chocolate.

So what is so funny about this? What we didn't think about is that hot milk sours. So when we returned from Amber's room guess what we smelled?!? Yes, sour milk so disgusting. The coffee maker still stinks and I don't know if it will ever stop giving off the aroma!

So maybe the next time we will think before we try to invent something....maybe we needed some senior wisdom!

College Life

Liberty University is pretty much the best school ever!!! I have already made so many friends that I know will last a lifetime. I love East, my RAs, SLDs, and PLs are so nice and very helpful. I have already laughed so many times and I have been very busy. Here are a few of the girls on my hall:

We also have an amazing brother dorm. We go and eat with them every night. A few night ago they came and sang to us, I have the video on my facebook but for some reason I can't get it to transfer on here so you can go check it out there.

As you may know Liberty has some pretty strict rules that are refererred to as the "Liberty Way." Some rules are:

1) The only contact that the 2 people of the opposite sex may participate in are holding hands and a hug that may only last for 3 seconds.

2) Boys are not allowed in girl dorms and girls are not allowed in the boy dorms.

3) Everyone must wear jeans to class and boys must wear collard shirts and NO sweatpants can be worn to class.

4) In order to stay overnight with someone off of campus they must be at least 21 and a married couple.

5) A 10:00 curfew is enforced on Tuesday nights, and for every 15 minutes you are late you get repremands commonly know as REPS by the Liberty Students.

If you are seen breaking these rules you get REPS and as Liberty Students say "That is not the Liberty Way."

This is a Good One!

Recently I have found that I have a new obsession. Sorry Lula, it is not the Twilight saga like you would have hoped. It is the Secret Life of an American Teacher a new series on ABC Family. This show is suprisingly informative and pretty realistic, as far as my teenage mind is concerned anyway.

The basic storyline is a goody goody, band geek, honor student, teenage girl gets pregnant. Beyond that her struggles are the normal how do I tell my parents, what are my options, is this ruining my life, pretty basic stuff. What makes this show so interesting is that at the same time there are other stories being told about a few other teenagers. Each teenager is going through different issues so that if you cannot relate to one you can another. One is obsessed with sex, another a Christian who is struggling to say NO, and then another Christian trying to stand out in a high school that in no way acknowledges what is sin. All in all a pretty good show.

The show comes on Tuesdays at 8:00 you should check it out. If you want to catch up on the episodes just go to abcfamily.com where you can watch full episodes.

That is How MUCH!!!

Well today, I ventured out to buy some college supplies. I never knew how many things you have to have to live in a dorm room. I mean seriously they are not that big. I am very lucky (well I thought) because at the great Liberty University you can live in a very nice suite. What they do not tell you is that when you live in a suite you must buy the following: silverware, pots, pans, pizza pans, cups, plates, bowls, and ect. These items are expensive. I am pretty sure I am spent over $300 on just supplies for my room!

So here are some dorm room musts that you just do not think of:

Bath robes or cover-ups are a must if their is a bathroom in your room or not. Also the "bedside buddy" is a great way to store items right next to your bed.

Well I do not want to post every neat little item I thought was just a must have for all college students so I will tell you where to find them.

I did most of my shopping at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I had never been there but they have this helpful checklist for all college students.

A few other items were purchased at the wonderful Target.
